I became a chef out of a simple passion: making food, feeding people, and bringing joy. My journey has taken me through kitchens in NYC and California, to cooking at the James Beard House, and working alongside renowned celebrity chefs. I spent years as a corporate chef for Compass Group and later built the culinary team at Pinterest from the ground up. Now, I’ve come full circle—back to the basics. The basics of cooking.
These days, I’m cooking for friends and clients, hosting gatherings. I'm also teaching home cooks skills and recipes that build confidence to be better chefs at home. I also partner with companies to elevate performance and sustainability.
I was born in Busan, South Korea, and immigrated to the U.S. as a child. Growing up in Queens, NY—one of the most diverse places in the world—shaped my deep love for global flavors. My career has reinforced the value of local ingredients, responsible sourcing, and thoughtful cooking. That’s what defines me as a chef today: blending tradition with innovation, putting vegetables first, and pairing them with high-quality proteins.
